When you look in the mirror, are you disappointed to see that your hairline has sunk backwards a bit over the years? Balding heads are common, but they don't have to be that obvious. If you have your hair cut in certain ways, the balding head will be a lot less obvious, or maybe not even apparent at all. So, what haircut styles work well for people with balding heads? Take a look at some top options.

A Fauxhawk

The fauxhawk is a style that's pretty trendy right now, and it happens to be shaped in a way that nicely camouflages a balding head. The hair is left longer in the center of the head and is shorter on the sides, and you style it by combing all of the hair up towards the center. Because the style would get shorter to the side anyway, it hides the fact that you're missing some hair on the sides.

Taper Fade

This style leaves the hair long on top and then slowly fades it out towards the sides. Usually, the longer hair on top is then parted to one side and then combed over. Like the fauxhawk, this style has the hair very short in areas where you're balding, which helps mask the fact that you're missing some hair.

Buzz Cut

The buzz cut is not as common as it once was, but it's not necessarily out of style, and it's definitely a low-maintenance cut if that's what you're looking for. The buzz cut is done with clippers, and all of the hair is left the same short length. Especially if you have light brown or blonde hair, this cut makes the balding head a thing nobody will really notice. You will have to go to the barber for touch-ups at least every 3–4 weeks, though.

Ivy League

This is a very classy cut and a favorite among professional men and those who like to maintain a more polished appearance. The sides of the head are buzzed. The top of the head is buzzed in the back, with the hair left gradually longer as it approaches the forehead. Since the receding edges are shaved, they're not obvious at all, and the longer hair near the forehead can actually be combed over just a bit to camouflage these areas a bit more.
